With a heavy heart Mildred (Midge) Helderman passed away on March 20th at Good Samaritan Hospital surrounded by her loved ones. Midge’s first love was her daughters, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandson.
She loved to arrowhead and Indian bead hunt, mushroom hunting, walking, reading, variety puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, painting, fishing, gardening, flower gardening and playing Yahtzee.
Mom had a deep faith in the Lord. She loved gospel music especially the Gaither’s. She attended The United Methodist Church in Emison and Loogootee High School.
Midge was born December 31, 1935, in Whitfield, IN to Luther and Dorothy (Abel) Street. She married the love of her life Thomas Helderman on July 19, 1980.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Tom, her granddaughter Miranda Warner, and her great granddaughter Aubrey. Brothers Delmar and Nelson Street, Sisters Lela Dietz, Mona Bline and Bonnie Street.
Midge is survived by her daughters Jacqueline (Jim) Baker, Shannon Colby, and Angela (Mark) McCandless, 10 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson. Sisters Melba Buckley, Sharon Street, and Marlene (Jim) Vesmarovich and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Monday, March 25, 2024. Visitation will be from 11am to 1pm with services immediately following at Goodwin Sievers in Washington, Indiana. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the care of Mildred.
