Mildred James

Mildred "Tommie" James, 93, of Vincennes, IN, passed away September 22, 2018, at Good Samaritan Hospital. She was born May 1, 1925, in Vincennes, IN, to Alfred Joseph and Helen Marie (Kaiser) Wichman.Tommie lived in Virginia for many years, and later moved back to Vincennes to be closer to family. She served in the WACS during WWII, and recently received an award for her service. Her memberships included St. John Catholic Church, American Legion Post #73, and the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post #7728. Some of her favorite activities were sewing, making quilts, and knitting. She created beautiful paintings and ceramics using different techniques. Always very giving to others, Tommie was a special "one of a kind" lady. She was loved very much by her nieces and nephews.Surviving is her son, Michael B. James of Hyattsville, MD; a sister, Ruth Bilskie of Vincennes, IN; a daughter-in-law, Sharon James of Culpepper, VA; her grandchildren, Cindy Goldvein, Jon James, Kathy Batton, and Cheryl James; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.Preceding her were her parents; her husband, William Randolph James, Sr., her son, William Randolph James, Jr.; her grandson, William Randolph James III, her sister, Alfreda Wichaman; and her brother, Ed Wichman.Burial will take place in Cedar Grove Cemetery in Bealeton, VA.
