Mildred Slater

Mildred I. Slater, 85, passed away at Good Samaritan Hospital on Wednesday, December 17, 2014. Mildred was born on September 8, 1929 in Vincennes the daughter of William and Lucinda (Junkins) Briner. She married Ralph Slater on September 20, 1947 and he preceded her in death on November 4, 2003.Mildred was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing and gardening. Her family was her life.Survivors include her daughters, Priscilla Slayton and her husband Ed of Vincennes, Lucinda L. Archer and her husband Robert of Oaktown, Virginia E. Lacey of Vincennes; sister, Leola Vantlin of Vincennes; eleven grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren and one great-great-great grandchild. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, her step-dad, James Robertson, sisters, Ruby Slater, Jenny Helen Almond, Dorothy Lynch, brothers, Lloyd Briner, John Henry Briner, James Robertson, Alvy Briner, granddaughter, Christina Irene Chambers and grandson, Daniel Lynn Burgess.Funeral services for Mildred will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway with Pastor Garret Sloan officiating.
