Mona Wood

Mona J. (Spencer) Wood, 86, of Cynthiana went to be with the Lord August 1, 2019. She was born July 31, 1933 in New Harmony, IN to the late Leo Bernard Spencer and Nellie Mae Rose. Mona attended Lockyear Business School and worked as a gate attendant at Harmonie State Park for 19 years and H & R Drug Store. She appreciated every moment that was spent with family and friends. Mona loved them with all her heart. She asked that her family and friends not cry but smile and enjoy the day of her celebration of life. "I enjoyed life on this place, since life is so short." Mona also wanted to share that she had the best children and grandchildren in the world, and she loved them dearly. She is preceded in death by her parents; stepmothers Ann Spencer and Louise Spencer; stepfather Albert Rose; and sister Pattie Ann Moreland. Mona is survived by her children Renee (Katie) Kessler and James (Elaine) Butler; siblings Anita (Dan) Heidinger, Nancy (Bob) Mangold, and Leon James (Jeong Sook) Spencer; grandchildren Theresa (Matt) Burns, Amanda (Micah) Bechtel, Christina (Pat) Kuhn, Logan French, Grayson Adams, and Ethan Adams; and 5 great grandchildren. Holder's Funeral Home is honored and privileged to be entrusted with the care of Mrs. Wood. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at Holders Funeral Home from 10a-12p. Funeral will be Wednesday at 12p with interment at Poseyville Cemetery.
