Antonia Montez "Teddi" Brashear, 86, of Washington, IN. peacefully passed away November 21, 2023, at the Villages. She was born on January 29th, during the great flood of 1937 where her parents, Thomas Aloysius and Cecilia Margaret (Costello) Vrabel, traveled in a rowboat to get to the hospital. Teddi attended Mater Dei High School and was a part of the 1954 class. She continued her education at the St. Mary's School of Nursing, where she graduated in 1957. Teddi started her professional career in the emergency room at St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville. She then relocated to Washington, IN where she started her 40 years of service to the Washington Community School System as a registered nurse. Teddi proudly maintained her nursing license for the past 66 years.
She was a devote Catholic and member of Our Lady of Hope. Teddi was known for her caring nature and always helping others. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, crosswords, spending time with her late husband, flower gardening, fishing, sitting on her front porch with her dogs Jake and Roma, cooking, baking, landscaping, and mowing. She will be deeply missed by all.
Teddi is preceded in death by her parents Thomas A. Vrabel and Cecilia M. Vrabel; husband Ronnie G. Brashear; and father of her children Jack V. McDonald.
She is survived by her children Thomas (Robin) McDonald and Sara (Phillip) Jolliff; grandchildren Sara (Justin) Graves, Glenna (Tim) Kaiser, Dwain (Emilee) Jolliff, Scott (Brittany) McDonald, Kelsey (Tyler) Elsey, Brian (Megan) Riley, Dylan Riley; great-grandchildren Bre (Arthur) Brown, Macy (Ethan Grissom) Graves, Raelynn and Wyatt Kaiser, Nora McDonald, Bentley and Payton Elsey, Lawson and Lucy Riley, and Baby Jolliff due any day; great-great-grandchild Owen Brown; beloved cousin Mary Ann Vrabel; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Goodwin-Sievers is honored to be entrusted with the care of Mrs. Brashear. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 30, 2023, from 2-8pm and Friday, December 1, 2023, from 1 to service time at 2020 State St. Washington, IN. A Celebration of Life will begin at 2pm on December 1, 2023.
