Margaret L. "Muggs" Steininger, 83, of Vincennes, IN passed away June 27, 2024. She was born in Vincennes, IN on September 22, 1940, to the late Ray and Helen (Lane) McCrary. She attended Decker Chapel High School. Muggs married the love of her life, William "Bill" Steininger, on December 19, 1970. She was a member of the Decker Chapel United Methodist Church, the Bunco Card Club, and the Eastern Star for 50 years. She proudly worked for 36 years as a school bus driver for the South Knox School Corporation. Margaret also worked on and off for 25+ years at the Holiday Inn and Executive Inn as a waitress.
Muggs was a one of a kind. She loved cooking and tending her flowers. She enjoyed traveling with her niece, Kathy Organ, and supporting her family at all their extracurricular activities. Muggs also enjoyed transporting students to different events and field trips. She will be deeply missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ray and Helen McCrary; husband Bill Steininger; daughter in law Marcia Livermore; siblings Ada Mae (Lee) Carie, Frank McCrary, Bill (Joann) McCrary, Geneva (Bill) Johnson; brother in law Bill Vieke; sisters in law Shirley and Beth McCrary; granddaughters in law Brittney and Paula Livermore.
Margaret is survived by her children Jerri Gail (Christina Dill) Carson, Tracy Lynn Livermore, BJ Steininger; grandchildren Kerri (Jon) Miller, Kelli (Arte) Straw, Matthew Livermore, Michael Livermore, Cole Jacob Steininger, Matt Dill; great-grandchildren Amelia, Emily, Christine, and Benjamin Miller, Alyssa and Jordan Bowles, Brent Whittler, Avery and Eden Livermore, Dewey and Eaden Dill; great-great-grandchild Zoey Oliver; siblings Joann Vieke, Dave McCrary, Dan McCrary; son from another mother Scott Newberry; best friend Gloria Loudermilk; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Goodwin-Sievers is honored to be entrusted with the care or Mrs. Steininger. Visitation will be held July 2, 2024, from 4-8 pm and July 3, 2024, from 12-1 pm at 524 Broadway Street. A funeral service will begin promptly at 1 pm on July 3, 2024, with burial at Memorial Park to follow.
