Neilan K. Polston, 80 of Lawrenceville, IL passed away at 9:26 p.m. on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at Good Samaritan Hospital. Neilan was born on December 6, 1931 in St. Francisville, IL the son of Clinton R. and Mary (Snyder) Polston. He married Barbara Powers on February 26, 1951 and she preceded him in death on November 18, 1995. Neilan served his country in the United States Army 187 Regimental Combat Team Airborne during the Korean Conflict and saw much active combat that shaped and formed his life forever. He was a carpenter having worked out of the local Union 274 in Vincennes. He was a hard worker and his work was his passion. He had worked on numerous construction projects locally as well as in Indonesia. Neilan was devoutly devoted to all of his family and helped anyone in need. He was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church and enjoyed his family, working, fishing, painting, traveling and geneology. Survivors include his daughter Rita Griggs and her husband Bill of Lawrenceville, IL; son, Matt Polston and his wife Melanie of Lawrenceville, IL; son Eric Polston of Lawrenceville, Il; son Elliott Polston and his wife Nicole of Bruceville; sisters, Pat Jones of Lawrenceville, IL; Maryanna Loveman of Lawrenceville, IL; twelve grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. . Funeral services for Neilan will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway. Burial will follow in Lawrenceville City Cemetery.
