Nellie M. Ruble, 104, of Vincennes, passed away on May 30, 2014 in her home at Fox Ridge Manor. Nellie was born in Palmyra Township to John and Anna Ruble. One of six children, she developed a love for learning and teaching, which eventually led to both bachelor's and master's degrees in education from Indiana State University. She taught at her alma mater, Frichton High School, as well as in the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation for a combined 37 years. Nellie had a true heart for service, evidenced by her extensive work as a volunteer in the community for organizations such as Good Samaritan Hospital, and the Vincennes University Alumni Association. Her giving spirit and sweet smile combined with determination and strong will left an impression on many who crossed her path throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Anna Ruble; brothers, Don and Homer; and her sisters ,Esther Carr, Helen Marchino, and Pauline Morrison. Survivors include nieces Nancy Carr Barabee (Kent), Donna Jean Ruble Baker (Tom), Sue Ann Ruble Thomas (Mike); nephews Larry Carr (Maryann), Steve Carr (Rosalie), Tom Ruble (Liz), Ray Marchino (Virginia), and Bob Marchino (Claire); as well as several great and great-great nieces and nephews. The family is very grateful to the many loving caretakers who assisted Aunt Nellie over the years. Without their help, she would not have been able to live in her home till the day she died. We are also grateful to the staff at Fox Ridge Manor for their care and support over the years. We also extend thanks to her physician, Dr. Feltt. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to her church, Bethany Presbyterian, Vincennes, or to a favorite charity.
