Nelson Martin

Nelson Edward "Eddie" Martin, 80, of Washington, passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2020 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes.He was born on December 5, 1939 in Daviess County, Indiana to Charles and Virginia (Warner) Martin.Eddie was an insurance agent for Western-Southern insurance for many years and worked at Jasper Engines. Eddie was a member of the Free Methodist Church and enjoyed fishing and their koi fishpond. Eddie's passion to serve the Lord was found through Franklin Grahams Samaritans Purse Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes. He was part of this for over 20 years packing shoeboxes, collecting items, and serving as area coordinator. Eddie made several trips to the main distribution center to help with inspections.Surviving are his wife Joyce (Allen) Martin whom she married on September 7, 1958; his daughter Janice Traylor and her husband Rusty of Washington; his grandchildren Jared Traylor, Rachael Schaub and her husband Adam, Erin Hardin and her husband Jon, Nichole Fowler and her husband Dale, and Ashley Martin; along with his great grandchildren Lilly Schaub, Henry Schaub, Luke Hardin, Zach Hardin, David Fowler, Nik Fowler, and Blake Traylor; and a daughter in-law Michelle Martin of Greenfield.He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son Keith Martin.Public visitation will be held from 4-8 pm Friday, November 13, 2020 at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 2020 State Street, Washington. Private funeral services will be held Saturday with burial to follow in Oak Grove Cemetery of Reeve Township.
