Norma E. Barmes, 63, of Vincennes, passed away August 11, 2014 at Good Samaritan Hospital. Born June 6, 1951 in Sacramento, CA, she was the daughter of George and Carol Jean (Hull) Barmes. Her parents, two brothers, and one sister preceded her. Surviving is her son, Rev. Matthew Wayne Barmes of Anchorage, AL; George Barmes of Lawrenceville, IL; sisters Deborah K. Grant of Texas and Lorene Marie Tennyson of Dahlgren, IL; grandchildren, Hannah Barmes, Amos Barmes, Elizabeth Barmes, and Moriah Barmes; seven nieces and nephews; and ten great-nieces and nephews. Norma graduated from the San Juan High School in Sacramento, CA, in 1969. She worked as a nursing assistant. In 1987, Norma moved back to Vincennes. Here she was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and the VFW Auxillary. She also volunteered as a Pink Lady at Good Samaritan Hospital, and volunteered at the Senior Citizens Center. A funeral service will be conducted at the Gardner-Brockman Chapel, 505 Main Street, at 11:00 Wednesday. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 - 11:00 on Wednesday.
