Patricia Bathe

October 23, 1931 — May 23, 2020

Patricia (Pat) M. Bathe of Ocala, FL passed into eternal life with Christ on May 23, 2020 in Indianapolis, Indiana . Patricia was born October 23, 1931, in St. Francisville, IL to Patrick Murphy and Dorothy Murphy. She attended St. Francis Xavier School and St. Francisville High School. She took great joy in singing and playing musical instruments at church services and her school programs. She later attended Vincennes University and was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority. Patricia was active in the Vincennes Alumni Association, where she was elected to serve as Treasurer. She married the late Gene R. Bathe at the St. Francis Xavier Cathedral Complex on June 22, 1951. They celebrated almost 67 years of marriage before his passing in 2018. They had six children: Gene E. Bathe of Sandy, Utah; Sandra Turner (William) of Greenwood, Indiana; Linda Coatney (Fred Hartloff) of Indianapolis, Indiana; and David A. Bathe (Rebecca) of Lafayette, IN; and two infants that did not survive. Patricia has six grandchildren: Erica Coatney Fippen (Steve), Lisa Logsdon, Alexander Bathe, Christine Bathe, Katherine Bathe, Mikaela Turner, and two great-grandsons: Bryce and Colson Logsdon. In addition, she is survived by her cousin Wilma Studley of Vincennes, Indiana with whom she spent her childhood and considered her sister and best friend. Her family was the joy of her life. She greatly enjoyed participating in all their childhood activities. Patricia and Gene retired to Palm Cay, Florida in 1995. They lived in "horse country' where she loved to visit the horse farms and stables. She had a love for wildlife and was fascinated by Creation. They were active in various activities there and enjoyed fellowship with their neighbors and friends at their church. Her grandchildren provided a new generation of activities, such as Disney Character Breakfasts and shopping with her granddaughters. Her stated desire was that her grandchildren understand that she has transition to a heave, a place of pure joy with her Savior, as noted in 2 Corinthians 15:50-54; 50 I declare to you, brothers and sisters, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. 51 Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed- 52 in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 53 For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. 54 When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: "Death has been swallowed up in victory." Patricia was proceeded in death by her parents and husband Gene R. Bathe and her parents. A private funeral service will be held at the gravesite in Fairview Cemetery with Reverend William Turner presiding. Memorial donations may be made to the Gene and Patricia bathe Scholarship through the Vincennes University Foundation. Special thanks to Goodwin Family Funeral Homes for their care and service.
