Wayne Carie, 69, of 2132 South Old US 41, Vincennes, passed away at 5:40 a.m. Thursday, May 30, 2013 at his residence.He was born June 25, 1943 in Tennessee to Paul and Lucille Erskine Carie and was raised in Vincennes.Wayne was a Sergeant in the US Army and was decorated for his service in Vietnam with many medals, including the Bronze Star for heroic duties. He retired from the US Postal Service after 35 years as a letter carrier in the Indianapolis area and enjoyed doing custom woodworking projects. His memberships included the St. Thomas Catholic Church, the VFW, 40 et 8, NRA, and attended the St. Thomas grade school and graduated from Central Catholic High School. Surviving is his wife, Shirley (Hinds) Carie , whom he married April 30, 2009, three brothers, Jim Carie of Greenfield, Rick Carie, and Steve Carie, both of Vincennes; a sister, Marsha Wykoff of West Lafayette; two sons, Michael and Kelly Carie of Colorado; two daughters,Stacey (Sean) Ambrose, and Susie (Chris) Jackson, both of New Palestine; three step children, William Kirk and Michael Kirk both of Evansville, and Robin (Bryan) Kirk-Hotz of Boonville along with 4 grandchildren and 4 step grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:30 a.m. Tuesday June 4, 2013 at St. Thomas Catholic Church with Rev. John Schipp and Deacon Earl Ruppel as celebrants.
