Paul Goodwin

Paul Eugene Goodwin, 87, 1522 LaPlante, Vincennes, passed away at 5:51 a.m. on Sunday, October 2, 2011 at Good Samaritan Hospital. Born March 9, 1924, in Knox County, he was the son of Samuel and Esther (Hewitt) Goodwin. Paul retired as a semi driver for Prairie Farms. He was a 1943 graduate of Fritchton High School, member of Indiana Presbyterian Church and enjoyed woodworking.Survivors include his wife, Florence Westfall Goodwin whom he married on February 13, 1988; children, Phyllis Jean Goodwin Schmitt, Buryl Wayne Goodwin and his wife, Gay, Diana Reel and her husband, David, and Rose Ann Heath and her husband, Gerald all of Vincennes; eleven grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.Preceding Paul in death were his parents; first wife, Mary Phyllis (Jones) Goodwin; brothers and sisters, Donald Goodwin, Amos Goodwin, Joe Goodwin, Hubert Goodwin, Ben Goodwin, Orville Goodwin, Estel Goodwin, Margaret Purcell, Ruby Stafford, Mabel Stafford and Grace Adams, and Lowell Beaman who was raised with the Goodwin family; daughter, Rita Ann Hulen and one grandchild.Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 5 at 11:00 a.m. at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway with Rev. Cheryl Thorne officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
