Peggy Baker

Peggy J. Baker, 88, of 4463 N SR 67, Vincennes, passed away at 10:20 pm. Thursday, April 23, 2015 at her residence.She was born December 9, 1926 in Lawrence County, Illinois to William Otis and Alma Evelina (Reel) Shappard.Peggy was a social worker for Vincennes Head Start, a teacher's aid at Tecumseh Harrison, and retired from Good Samaritan Hospital in the Housekeeping Department in 1992. A graduate of Lincoln High School in 1944, she attended the Bethlehem General Baptist Church. She enjoyed crafts, reading, and spending time with her friends and family.Surviving are her children, Robert (Rosalie) Baker of Vincennes, Nancy (William) Hendrixson, Beth (Thomas) Lee of Vincennes, Judy (George) Garner of Cherokee Village, Arkansas, Thomas (Diana) Baker of Vincennes, Douglas (Pansy) Baker of Vincennes, David Baker of Vincennes, and Janet (Bart) Wagner of Bruceville; her brothers, John Shappard of Danville, IL and Paul Joseph Shappard of Florida; 20 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren.Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Elmer Baker who died on December 11, 1987, two brothers, William and James Shappard, three sisters, Frieda Bloom, Nellie Catt, and Shirley Ramsey, and a great grandchild, Harley Bradburn.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 Monday, April 27, 2015 at Goodwin Funeral Home with Rev.
