Rachel Hughes

Rachel L. Hughes, 87, passed away at 1:05 am on July 24, 2021 at Oak Village Nursing Home in Oaktown, IN. Rachel was born on October 26, 1933 in Wheatland the daughter of Sam and Frances (Williams) Hatton. She married Paul Hughes, Sr. on January 31, 1957 and he preceded her in death on November 13, 2002. Rachel was a member of First Christian Church in Sullivan and she enjoyed reading and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed animals, doing crossword puzzles, and driving fast. Survivors include her daughter, Kim Hughes of Carlisle; sons, Robert Hughes of Lyons, IN, David L. Hughes and his wife Michelle of Vincennes; brother, Herman Hatton and his wife Sondra of Fritchton, IN; sister, Wanda Carota of Vincennes; grandchildren, Terri Conley and her husband Daniel, Sheri Faulkenberg and her husband Jon, Michael Hughes and his wife Kristin, Crystal Hughes, Scott Hughes, Matt Hughes and his wife Neva, Jamie Hughes, Ryan Kaiser and his wife Chloe, and six great grandchildren. Rachel was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Paul Hughes, Sr., son, Paul Hughes, Jr. sister, Vera Faught, and two great grandchildren. Friends may visit with Rachel's family from 4-7 pm on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 524 Broadway, Vincennes, IN 47591. Rachel's funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, July 30, 2021 at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home and she will be laid to rest in Shaker Prairie Cemetery in Oaktown, IN.
