Randy Westfall

Randall Lee Westfall, 79, formerly of Vincennes, passed away at 3:25 pm on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at his residence in Fort Wayne, IN. Randy was born on November 4, 1942, in Vincennes and he was the son of Marvin Clark and Selma Jo (Scales) Westfall. He married Gayle (Robbins) Westfall on August 6, 1976. Randy was a 1961 graduate of Vincennes Lincoln High School and attended Indiana State University from 1961 until 1963. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country from 1963 until 1967. In 1967 he began his banking career immediately following his 4-year honorable discharge from the United States Air Force at American National Bank aka Union Planters, aka Regions Bank. He began banking as a branch teller and was later promoted to Assistant Vice President and then Vice President. During his tenure at American National Bank, he was awarded the Richard J. Baker Employee of the Year in 1991. Later he was awarded the Helen J. Baker Banking Award. Randy was very active in his hometown of Vincennes. After his retirement at the end of 2004 from Regions Bank, he and Gayle moved to Fort Wayne, IN. He worked part-time at Bobick's Golf Headquarters in Ft. Wayne for over eight years assisting golf customers and fitting of golf clubs while Gayle continued her career in education at Indiana University Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) now Purdue University Fort Wayne. Randy enjoyed his time at Bobick's Golf Headquarters and made many golfing friends in the Fort Wayne area which continue today. As a youth, he enjoyed horseback riding with friends and barrel-racing, he also enjoyed riding his horse, Sheba, in local rodeo events. Randy also as a youth delivered the daily Sun-Commercial newspaper door to door, he worked in the corn and melon fields of Knox County and delivered peaches to the Big Peach. He worked bailing straw after wheat was harvested and has been a hard worker his whole life. He played YMCA football during elementary school through junior high and was a four-year letterman in high school receiving a football scholarship to Indiana State University in Terre Haute. In addition, he played baseball growing up from little league, Legion, and lettered all four years in baseball at Lincoln High School. He continued playing ball for the U.S. Air Force's Men's travel fast-pitch softball team where he maintained a batting average of over .400 as a first baseman and did this in high school as well. At Lincoln High School he was awarded in the Ace Edward Award in 1961 for an athlete who excelled in three sports (his was football, baseball and basketball). A hobby he enjoyed, starting in 1976 with LHS basketball and then in 1983 with VU basketball was being asked by long-time friend, Dave Hunter, to be a commentator and statistician in radio broadcasting of home and away LHS football and LHS and VU basketball games with Dave Hunter on WAOV and WVUB for many years before moving to Fort Wayne. Randy also enjoyed playing golf his whole life and picked up tennis in the 1980's. He was very active in the local Vincennes Tennis Club (VTC) where he held several club positions and played in and worked on VTC sponsored tennis tournaments. He enjoyed all sports, from his youth days thru adult life. For many years he was an IHSAA referee for high school basketball and certified umpire for high school baseball. He also worked the chain gang, marking the downs on the football field for Lincoln High School football games. He enjoyed attending and watching sports and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan, where he went to games in St. Louis from the 1950's to his last game in 2021. He loved spending time with his daughters, son-in-law(s) and grandchildren, and thoroughly enjoyed being able to watch his grandsons play baseball and golf and watching his granddaughter play volleyball. He enjoyed traveling & times spent with Gayle during their 45 years of marriage. Randy's church memberships include North United Methodist of Vincennes during the 1950's, First United Methodist Church of Vincennes from 1958-2004, and Bethel United Methodist Church in Fort Wayne from 2004 until present. Other memberships include, Bicknell Country Club, Elks Country Club, Eel River Golf Club (Ft, Wayne), Vincennes Tennis Club, Civitan Club of Vincennes, Vincennes Democrats, American Legion Post #73, Vincennes Homebuilders Association, MLB Insiders club where he was a lifetime member, and USGA where he was a lifetime member. He was very active in all. Survivors include his wife Gayle Westfall of Fort Wayne, IN, children, Kelli (Westfall) Pash and her husband Mike Pash of North Las Vegas, NV, Angela (Robbins) Snyder and her husband Troy Snyder of Fort Wayne, IN; his grandchildren, Cassandra and Colton Pash of North Las Vegas, NV, Trevor Snyder of Ft. Wayne, IN, Lucas Snyder and Renee Pulver of Terre Haute, IN; sister, Ronda Jo (Westfall) Harrell of Vincennes, IN; and many nieces and nephews. Randy is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Selma Westfall, nephew Andy Harrell and brother-in-law, Rod Harrell. Friends may visit with Randy's family from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 524 Broadway, Vincennes, IN 47591. Randy's funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm on Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Dale Biehl officiating and Randy will be laid to rest in Memorial Park Cemetery.
