Ray Gowen

Roy Ellis Gowen, 75, passed away at 12:25 pm on January 8, 2013 at Good Samaritan Hospital. Roy was born on January 18, 1938 in Lawrence County, IL the son of Earl W. and Wilda (Kent) Gowen. Roy married Patricia Margaret Steinhauser on January 20, 1979 and she survives.Roy retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Lawrenceville, IL as a letter carrier after thirty years of service. He was a former member of the Vincennes Gun Club and the Lawrenceville Eagles Lodge. Roy had participated in the Vincennes Bowling League and the Lawrenceville Men's Softball League. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed walking.Survivors include his wife, Patricia Gowen of Vincennes; son, Douglas Gowen and his wife Kathy of Lawrenceville, daughters, Cheryl Gowen Salesman of Lawrenceville, IL; Carla Carie and her husband Randy of West Lafayette, IN; Cammy Felling and her husband Ron of Bloomington, IN; step-daughter, Patricia Estrada and her husband Rigo of Houston, TX; step-son, John Crawley and his wife Shannon of Houston, TX; brother, Ray Gowen of Robinson, IL; sisters, Joyce Ridgley of Mt. Carmel, IL; Doris Decker and her husband Glen of Flat Rock, IL; Wanda Daugherty and her husband Chuck of Flat Rock, IL; grandchildren, Caleb Gowen, Jenna Gowen, Mackenzie Salesman, Carl Carie, Calvin Carie, Clayton Carie; step-grandchildren, Crystal Garcia, Tiffany Estrada, Erika Estrada, Brittany Crawley Chase Crawley; great granddaughters, Bellamey Carie and Brylynn Denham and one great- grandson on the way.Graveside services will be held at 2:15 pm on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit with Roys family from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Saturday at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway, Vincennes, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to the donors favorite charity.
