Rex. R Chambers

Rex Chambers, 80, of Vincennes, IN, passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at 5:45 pm at his home.Rex was born following his twin brother Max, on January 24, 1939, the son of Roxie (Gardner) and Denver Levi Chambers. He graduated from Bruceville High School.On March 25, 1961, he married Barbara Davis, his wife of 58 years, who survives.Rex retired from Culligan Water Conditioning and was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church where he served as an active deacon for many years and later as deacon emeritus. Because of his love for warm weather and the beach, he spent the last several years in Florida, part of those volunteering in two Florida State parks. He also enjoyed hunting and spending time at the Bologna Gravy Hunt Club in Arkansas, established by two older brothers. Rex was an avid IU basketball fan and always looked forward to basketball season.Rex is also survived by his children, Bradley Chambers of Vincennes, Angela Sims and her husband Mike of Lexington, IN; his grandchildren, Lauren Fischer and her husband Eric, Rachelle Wilson and her husband Trint, Zachary Chambers and his wife Summer, Leah Miles and her husband Christopher, Hannah Sims; four great grandchildren; his twin brother, Max Chambers and his wife Marilyn; and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, six sisters, and three brothers. A Celebration of Rex's life will be at 10:30 am Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at Ridgecrest Baptist Church, 1820 McKinley Avenue, Vincennes, with his nephew, Mike Bond and Pastor Walker Hatton officiating. Burial will be in the Bicknell Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at Goodwin Funeral Home and 9 am until the hour of services at the church on Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice or Ridgecrest Baptist Church.
