Richard Edwards

Richard L. "Dick" Edwards, 91, passed away at 3:54 am on August 7, 2023, at Good Samaritan Hospital. Dick was born on November 23, 1931, in Washington, IN and he is the son of Albert and Beatrice (Herman) Edwards. He married Thelma L. Clifton on April 21, 1956, and she preceded him in death on March 6, 2018.

Dick graduated from Vincennes Lincoln High School. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. and served his Country during the Korean Conflict. While serving in the Korean Conflict he lost one of his best friends Ace Edwards, there. He worked for Blackford Glass and Indiana Bell for thirty-eight years before retiring. Dick was a member of the American Legion and VFW, and he also volunteered his time with the All-Weather Firing Squad. Dick loved his horses Mack and Gee Gee.

Survivors include his sister, Nancy Gray and her husband Carman; nieces and nephews, Kalisa, Lynn, Sue, Bob, Sherri, Angie, Jana, Greg, Margaret, Paula, Debby, Nancy and Lindsay. Dick is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Beatrice Edwards, his wife, Thelma Edwards, brothers and sisters Georgia Sloo, Harold Edwards, Albert Edwards, and his sisters-in-law, Virginia Reitmeyer, Mary Ellen Neal and Audrey Schultz.

Friends may visit with Dick's family from 10:00 am until the hour of service time of 1:00 pm on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 524 Broadway, Vincennes, IN 47591. Dick's funeral service will begin at the conclusion of visitation beginning at 1:00 pm promptly with Pastor Trevor Murry officiating.
