Richard Lafferty

Richard A. Lafferty, 87, passed away on July 29, 2014, at Gentle Care Nursing Home, in Vincennes. Richard was born on May 27, 1927, in Knox County, IN. He was the son of Raymond O. and Ilma (Vollmer) Lafferty. He married Gloria A. Branham on April 13, 1956. Richard was a lifelong builder, and owned and operated Lafferty Builders. He was a member of Community United Methodist Church and Hoosiers Cruisers. Richard loved spending time with family and friends, and enjoyed camping and going on family vacations throughout the years. His favorite hobby was restoring antique automobiles, and attending the annual Newport Hill Climb. He is survived by his wife, Gloria; four sons, R. Douglas (Christina) Lafferty of Vincennes, A. Scott (Tammy) Lafferty of Alabama, Jeffry T. (Sheri) Lafferty of Alabama, and John R. (Anita) Lafferty of Vincennes; nine grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, and one grandson, Derek Morgan. Funeral services will be celebrated by Rev. Cheryl Garbe, on Thursday, at 3:00, at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway. The family will receive friends on Thursday, from 1:00 - 3:00, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery.
