Richard Norman Divine

April 19, 1939 — September 14, 2024

Richard Norman Divine, 85, of Washington, IN, passed away at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper on September 14, 2024. He was born on April 19, 1939, to the late Noble and Dorthea (Wegger) Divine in Martin County, IN.


On July 3, 1958, he married the love of his life, Marjorie Sue Street, and she preceded him in death on January 23, 2020. Richard worked as a factory worker for most of his career up until recent years. His most recent employment was helping transport the Amish to appointments and to run various errands.


He was a member of Loogootee Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church. In his free time, Richard enjoyed watching wrestling, playing games on his computer, transporting the Amish, and he especially enjoyed teasing and picking on others in a jokingly manner. His sense of humor and love for his family will be greatly missed.


Richard is survived by his children, Peggy (Craig) Bullock of Loogootee, Rod (Angie) Divine of Washington, and Rick (Mary) Divine of Freedom; his grandchildren, Kade Holt, Aaron Holt, Matt Bullock, Megan Green, Becky Clark, Nick Roberts, Tiffany Sergent, Brandon Parish, Sebastian Divine, Brittany Hardin, Paige Kamplain, and Ethan Pierson; several great-grandchildren; his siblings, Steve (Mary) Divine, Sharon Hoke, and MaryAnn Kent; and several nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his parents Noble and Dorthea; his wife, Marjorie; his daughters, Sherri Holt, and Beverly Roberts; his great-granddaughter, Chasity Clark; and his siblings; Noble Jr. Divine, Jack Divine, Fred Divine, Diane Braun, Judy Kennedy, and Alma Divine.


Visitation for Richard will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024, from 10:00 – 12:00pm at Loogootee Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church, 3662 Mt. Zion Rd, Loogootee, IN 47553. Following visitation, a funeral service will begin immediately at 12:00pm with Pastor Caleb Moffatt officiating. After the conclusion of the service, Richard will be laid to rest next to his wife Marjorie in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be made to the family to help with final expenses. Donation envelopes will be provided.
