Rita Hartzburg

Rita Hartzburg, 81, passed away at 4:38 pm on Monday, April 11, 2022, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Rita was born on August 11, 1940, in Vincennes and she was the daughter of Fred and Fern (Cazel) Fleck. Rita married Joe Hartzburg on November 28, 1959, and he preceded her in death on December 4, 2021. Rita was a homemaker and a member of First Christian Church. She enjoyed crocheting and flowers and loved to cook. She was especially known for making coconut cream pie from scratch. Most importantly though, Rita loved spending time with her family, her grandchildren and her great grandson. Survivors include her son, Kevin Hartzburg and his wife Lisa of New Palestine, IN.; daughter, Karla Smith and her husband Tim of Vincennes; grandchildren, Matt Hartzburg, Shelby McCormick and her husband David, Alex Smith; and her great grandson William James McCormick. Rita is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Fern Fleck, son, Brett DeWayne Hartzburg, brother, Robert Fleck, and her husband Joe Hartzburg. Friends may visit with Rita's family from 10:00 am until the hour of service time of 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 16, 2022, at First Christian Church, 319 Broadway St., Vincennes IN. Rev. Dr. Lanny Lawler will officiate, and Rita will be laid to rest next to her husband Joe and son Brett in Upper Indiana Cemetery.
