Rita Smith

Rita Ann Smith, 77, of Vincennes, IN passed away at Good Samaritan Hospital on October 21, 2024. She was born in Vincennes, IN on September 8, 1947, to the late William D. and Meriam (Wyant) Cantwell. Rita married the love of her life David W. Smith on October 12, 1973. She worked for many years as a nurse's aid for Home Health Care. Rita was a member of the Free Methodist Church. Rita was very caring and loved taking care of people. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and watching old westerns. She will be deeply missed.

Rita is preceded in death by her parents William and Meriam Cantwell; brother Raymond Cantwell; nephew Douglas Cantwell.

She is survived by her husband David W. Smith; sons Roger VanRiper II, Christopher Smith, David W. Smith (Trecia) II; granddaughters Brittnie Peach and Kelsie Gaither; great-grandchildren Ashton Berry, Macie Berry, Sophia Peach, Landyn Griesmer, Baylee Coffman; great-great-grandchild Lainey Berry.

Goodwin-Sievers is honored to be entrusted with the care of Mrs. Smith. A Burial of Cremated Remains will be held November 1, 2024, at 1 pm in Memorial Park Cemetery.
