Robert Donovan

November 25, 1946 — June 12, 2013

Bob Donovan, 66, lost his battle with cancer with his family by his side at 4:29 pm on June 12, 2013 at his residence. Bob was born on November 25, 1946 in Lawrenceville, IL the son of Francis and Margaret (Goehring) Donovan. He married Donna Emmons on December 1, 1973 and she survives. Bob was in the Marine Corps. From 1964-1968. He served in three tours of duty during Vietnam and was a First Sergeant of Civil Engineering during Desert Storm serving in Saudi Arabia. He retired from the Air Force in 1991. He then retired from Good Samaritan Hospital in 2008 having worked in maintenance at the Samaritan Center. Bob was a member of Old Cathedral Catholic Church and a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus member. He was also a member of the American Legion. Bob enjoyed his three granddaughters and enjoyed word search puzzles and working outdoors and gardening and he was also a member of Thursday Night Coffee Club with his close friends, Jr. Parish and Keith Bowman. Survivors include his wife, Donna Donovan of Vincennes; sons, David Donovan and his wife Alexandria of Germany; Christopher Donovan and his wife Angie of Walton, IN; Steven Binkley and his wife Jennifer of Tacoma, WA; daughter, Courtney Day and her husband, Jonathon of Loogootee; sisters, Marjorie Beamon of Vincennes; Ruth Wittsman and her husband Ed of Vincennes; Nancy Allen of Monroe City; Frieda Christmas and her husband Jim of Lewisburg, KY; brother, Ron Williams of Vincennes; Grandchildren, Angelique Donovan, Emily Donovan, Hannah Donovan, Michaela Sampson, great grandson, Jason Donovan and family pets, Crystal and Tess. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Irvin Williams. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 15 at Old Cathedral Catholic Church with Rev. John Schipp celebrating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit with Bob's family on Friday from 5-8 pm at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Old Cathedral Restoration Fund or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
