Robert Flory

Robert G. "Bob" Flory, 89, of Vincennes, passed away at 9:00 am Sunday, January 31, 2021 at his residence.He was born March 3, 1931 in Vincennes, Indiana to Henry Taylor and Lora Gladys (Preston) Flory.Bob served for many years as Postmaster at the Vincennes Post Office and was a member of the Bethany Presbyterian Church. Bob was known for his large collection of Vincennes related stamps and his traveling Santa carvings (showing Santa Claus using various modes of transportation other than his sleigh) and Noah's Ark with over 100 pairs of animals. Bob and his wife Beverly joined in creating Santa Clauses out of cypress knees with Bev painting the faces and outfits, and Bob carving the faces (after Bev showed him where the carving should go). Beverly always informed everyone that the painting was much more important than the carving.Bob is survived by his children Robert Michael Flory of Bloomington, Jeanie Flory Bailey of Vincennes, and Jim Flory and his wife Melanie of Vincennes; his grandchildren Matt and Catherine Bailey of Linton, Chrystal and Adam Mehringer of Evansville, Elizabeth and Eric Blann of Vincennes, and Erica and Aaron Bushnell of Indianapolis; along with his great grandchildren Zachary, Brandan, Conner, Kaytee, Cash, Alabama, Reid, Astrid, Cecil, and Katie.Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife Beverly (Blagrave) Flory whom he married on June 10, 1950 and preceded him on August 3, 2013; and his brother Jack Flory.Visitation for Bob will be held from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home.
