Vincennes native and longtime local businessman and leader Robert (Bob) Grumieaux passed away at the age of 91on February 14, 2022, at Good Samaritan Hospital. Bob was born April 23, 1930, to Robert Z. and Louise M. (Recker) Grumieaux in Vincennes, IN Bob was a 1948 graduate of Vincennes Lincoln High School and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he had been choir director for many years. He attended Evansville College (now University of Evansville) and graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration. He began work at Montgomery and Doyle Construction, Inc. He became office manager and eventually President and owner of E.H. Montgomery Construction, Inc. He served on the board of directors of the local YMCA, Chamber of Commerce, Knox County Development Corporation, Vincennes University Foundation and Vincennes Lincoln High School Band Boosters. Bob was the local resident in charge of the Bi-Centennial Celebration. He was a Rotarian with perfect attendance for twenty-four years and served as President in 1976. Bob was an active member of the Hoosier Heritage Harmonizers and performed at many local events and barbershop activities. Bob received many awards including the Paul Harris Fellowship Award, Vincennes Civitan Citizen of the Year, the 2007 Walter A. Davis Award, and in 2001 Governor Frank O'Bannon named him a Sagamore of the Wabash. Bob was also a life member of the Knights of Columbus and Vincennes Elks. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Jeff Grumieaux. Bob is survived by his wife of seventy-one years Rose Marie (Draime) a sister, Mary Ann Youch, a daughter, Nanette L. Lich and her husband Melvin, sons Greg Grumieaux and his wife Sandy, Brian Grumieaux and his wife Valerie; daughter-in-law, Terri Grumieaux of Vincennes; grandchildren, Kyle Grumieaux, Garrett Grumieaux, Clay Grumieaux, Conor Grumieaux, Maggie Young, Daniel Grumieaux and Madeline Sievers; great grandchildren Jaelyn Grumieaux, Kaiden Grumieaux and Calvin Grumieaux. Bob is also survived by a niece, Elaine Somers and nephews, Glen, Ken and Ed Youch. Friends may visit with Bob's family from noon until 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2004 N. 2nd St., Vincennes, IN. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at the conclusion of visitation beginning at 1:00 pm with Rev. Tony Ernst celebrating.
