Robert Vieke

Robert J. "Bob" Vieke, 89, passed away at 2:30 am on January 9, 2014 at Bridgepointe Health Campus. Bob was born in Knox County, Indiana on May 3, 1924 the son of Clementine Vieke. He married Virginia Mae Dunham on November 23, 1948 and survives.Bob served his country in the United States Army serving during WW II. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church and worked for Jewel Tea, Co and Vincennes Monument in sales with over sixty years of service. Bob was a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion for forty two years, VFW, Forty & 8 and the Eagles Lodge.Survivors include his wife, Virginia Mae Vieke of Vincennes; daughters, Patsy Guerrettaz and her husband Charlie of Vincennes; Sandi Cole and her husband Bill of Lyles, TN; granddaughters, Angie Jackson and her husband Matt of Kennesaw, GA; Ashlee O'Dell and her husband Devin of Vincennes; grandson, Lane Cole of Lyles, TN, one great granddaughter on the way, sisters, Betty McDowell of Terre Haute, IN; Ruth Ann Mangin of Flat Rock, MI; brother, John C. Smith of Washington, IN; and brother-in-law Bill Mangin of Washington, IN. Also surviving is a cousin Emmett Bud Deem, who Bob thought of as a brother. Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Clementine Vieke Smith, brother Byron Smith and sister Virginia Mangin.A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 am on Monday, January 13, 2014 at St. John Catholic Church with Rev David Fleck officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery where the All Weather Firing Squad will conduct military honors at the gravesite. Friends may visit with Bob's family on Sunday, January 12, 2014 from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm with a Vigil Service to begin at 6:30 pm at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway.
