Roderick ("Allen") Harmon, 65, of Owensville, IN passed away unexpectedly Saturday, August 22, 2020. He was born May 14, 1955 in Princeton, IN to the late Roderick A. Harmon Sr. and Emily Lou (Williams) Harmon. Allen was in the 1973 graduating class at Owensville High School. Shortly after graduation he married the love of his life, Vicki (Anderson) Harmon, and they were blessed with five children. Allen was a lifetime farmer, owned and operated school buses for 44 years, served as the County Commissioner for 6 years, was the Chief Deputy for 8 years, and served as the Gibson County Sheriff for 8 years. Many students got to know him as a D.A.R.E. officer. He was a member of the Princeton Masonic Lodge #231, Scottish Rite, and Hadi Shrine. Allen loved woodworking and building furniture. He enjoyed working in the garden and collecting antique tractors. Allen treasured time spent with his beloved grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Paula West. Allen is survived by his wife of 44 years, Vicki Harmon; children and defacto children Philip (Carrie) Harmon, Carrie (Johnathan) Miller, Beth (Brian) Crocker, Patrick (Sarah) Harmon, Kevin Harmon, Alyse (Nick) Oliva, and Andrew Jablonski; grandchildren Emma Harmon, Amelia Harmon, Allyson Crocker, Olivia Crocker, Clayton Crocker, Lily Harmon, Christian Oliva, Savannah Olivia, Violet Oliva, and Riley Oliva; siblings Mary (Gene) Speicher, Bonnie (Richard Trueblood) Harmon, Jack (Valerie) Harmon, and Bennett (Kathi) Harmon. Holder's Funeral Home is honored and privileged to be entrusted with the care of Mr. Harmon. Graveside services will be 10a Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at Maumee Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Gibson Southern Scholarship Inc. All those who wish to honor and remember Allen in person at the service is encouraged to wear a mask for the safety of all those in attendance.
