Roger Chickedantz

October 5, 1943 — September 17, 2024

Plainville, IN – Charles Roger Chickedantz, 80, passed away at his home on September 17, 2024.

Roger was born October 5, 1943, in Washington, Indiana to the late Harry and Donna (England) Chickedantz. He attended Plainville School and graduated from Washington High School in 1961. Throughout high school, Roger was an avid participant in sports including baseball, basketball, football and track. He was a long-time member of the Parkview Christian Church in Plainville.

For 25 years, Roger worked as Regional Vice President for Cummins Diesel. He continued his career with Elmer Buchta Trucking as Vice President and President until 2010 when he retired.

Like his father, Harry, he loved all sports and became an avid tennis player, ping pong player and overall sports enthusiast. From fishing, boating and water skiing to feeding his pet catfish or finger-feeding his hummingbirds, Roger’s love of nature and outdoors was always a part of his daily life. Roger’s love for the outdoors even extended to the “pet” black snake that lived in his shed and that he looked forward to seeing each year. Roger very much enjoyed the companionship of many dogs over the years.

Running various pieces of equipment at the lake was another favorite pastime of Roger’s. From draglines to backhoes and tractors to log splitters; Roger loved them all.

Roger enjoyed cooking outside on his handmade grill and loved to share those times with friends and family. He always looked forward to the many family reunions or church picnics at the lake which will always be fondly remembered by all that attended.

Roger is survived by his sons Steve and Mike Chickedantz; grandson, Cole Chickedantz; sister, Lise Moore; and Roger’s loving companion, Evelyn Krieg.
