Roger Dale Eaden, 78, of 3758 N. Camp Arthur Rd. Vincennes, went to be with the Lord on December 24, 2010.Roger was born January 20, 1932 in Ohio County, Kentucky to Carley Burl and Loretta Ester (Renfrow) Eaden.Roger and Nelda moved to Vincennes in 1964 where they belonged to the First Baptist Church. Roger had served as a deacon, trustee, and was instrumental in building the new church. He retired as substation maintenance supervisor from Public Service Indiana after 38 years of service. He was a avid hunter belonging to the N.R.A. and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation Three Rivers chapter where he was a founding committee member. Roger loved to garden and every year he planted the garden of Eaden. He loved to do carpentry work where he served many people.He was a charter member of the Vincennes Township Fire Department and belonged to the Indiana Volunteer Fireman Association. He served his country in the Korean War. You could often find Roger at McDonald's drinking coffee. Most importantly, he was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather.Surviving is his wife, Nelda (Hastings) Eaden, whom he married February 27, 1954, three daughters, Deb (Louie) Eddleman of Vincennes, Tricia "Pat" (Larry ) West of Vincennes, and Dana (Bob) Lay, formerly of Vincennes, and a sister, Imogene Brown of Belton, Kentucky.Also surviving are his grandchildren, Randy Eddleman, Marcie (Scott) Diedorf, Caleb Eddleman, Carley Eddleman, Katy Ingram, Brett (Paige) West, Aaron (Danielle) West, Seth West, Renee Lay, and Katie Lay, great grandchildren, Dominique Eddleman, Kayden Eddleman, Jaylen Dierdorf, Madison Foreman, Camron Eddleman, Kaytilynn Ingram, Emma Eddleman, Kayleigh Ingram, Lucy Thacker, Brody West, and Natalie West, along with several nieces and nephews.Preceding Roger in death was his parents, two sisters, Mary Jarris, Aretha Horn, one brother, Ralph Eaden, and a grandchild, Elizabeth Renee Lay.Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday December 28, 2010 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Dan Clemens officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church
