Roger Fenton Small, 77,of Monroe City, passed away on Monday, July 29, 2019. Roger was born on January 21, 1942 in Vincennes, IN. He was the son of Lawrence Boyd and Goldie Jewel (Belcher). Roger graduated from Monroe City High School in 1960 and received his bachelor's degree in Agronomy from Purdue University in 1964. He married Julia Jane (Clifton) Small on August 23,1964. Roger is a military veteran of the Vietnam War. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he began his career as a Land Appraiser for the State of Indiana. Later in life,owned and operated Small Grain Farms with his son, Craig Small. Roger attended the First Church of God in Vincennes and belonged to the Monroe City Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite. Those surviving are his children, Eric Small and his wife Itsuko Shibata Small of Germany, Craig Small and his wife Martha of Monroe City, and Amy Culbertson and her husband Ben of Englewood, Florida; his brother, Ronald Small and his wife Carolyn of Monroe City; his sister, Judy Sutton and her husband Tim of Monroe City; seven grandchildren, Cole Small, Emily Small, Collin Small, Kassie Small, Julian Small, Blake Culbertson, and Brooklyn Culbertson; along with several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; and his wife Julia Jane (Clifton) Small who preceded him on December 10, 2006. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Saturday, August 3, 2019 at Goodwin Funeral Home with Rev. Georg Karl officiating. Burial will follow in the Hamline Chapel Cemetery.
