Rosalie Hedge

December 19, 1952 — March 2, 2024

Rosalie Ann (Adams) Hedge went to be with the Lord early Saturday, March 2, 2024, following open heart surgery. She was surrounded by her immediate family and sisters.

She is preceded in death by her father Berl Adams, mother Evia Imogene (Stewart) Adams, a brother William, son William E. "Billie" Brockus, Jr., and brother-in-law Timothy Carroll.

She is survived by her husband John R. Hedge, stepson Jeremy Hedge, sisters Evelyn (John) Luzzi, Helen Carroll, Sandy Hittle; brothers Berl (Diane) Adams, Tamer (Wendy) Adams, and Darrell (Jeanne) Adams, and many nieces and nephews.

Rose was born in Knox County in 1952 and attended Freelandville Elementary until 1961 when the family moved to Roselawn, IN. She attended Lincoln Grade School, Mt. Ayr Middle School and graduated from North Newton High School in 1970.

After moving back to Knox County when her husband John retired from the U.S. Army, she worked at then Harold's Supermarket for a while, then changed to Good Samaritan Hospital in the Patient Accounts department. She retired from Good Samaritan in 2012.

After gardening and traveling, her favorite thing to do was to sing. She participated in the Hamline Chapel United Methodist Church choir until 2003 and then the Community United Methodist Church choir. In the late 1990's she participated in several Knox County community singing events and was a founding member of the ladies quartet Just Friends. Along with members Marge Benjamin, Babetta (Gillespie) Strukel and Nanette Grumieaux, and later Karen Lechner, they performed patriotic and swing band era songs for community events and groups. At church, along with the choir, she enjoyed singing with another ladies' quartet with Cindy Lone, Phyllis Workman and Sonnie Clodfelter.

Rose was on the congregational care team helping elderly members with trips to doctor appointments or simply visiting with them. Her gifts were caring, sharing, and giving, doing it always with generous and loving heart, whether at church, with family or friends.

She loved the outdoors; gardening, walking the trails of Indiana state parks, and going to the beach. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, always having the biggest smiles in their company.
