Roy Vanlue

Roy J. (Joe) VanLue, 86 passed away at 5:25pm Friday, November 16, 2018 at Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville, IN. He went peacefully with his sister-in-law & caregiver, Margie VanLue by his side. He was born in Knox County, Indiana on May 22, 1932 to William & Bertha (Peach) VanLue. He married the Love of his life , Alice Elaine Perry on July 14, 1956.They were married 49 wonderful years. Joe was a very caring & appreciative man. He loved his sister-in-law, Margie's dog Ellie May. It just made his day when they would visit him at Fox Ridge Assisted Living where he lived before he went in the hospital. Joe worked at Autolite Battery Factory as an Oiler before entering the service in 1949. He earned an honorable discharge from the United States Army after serving for 6 years. He served in Korea. He received an Occupational Medal (Germany), Korean Service Medal, UN Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal & a Good Conduct Medal w/1st Clasp. He went to work at Snap-on Tools after retiring out of the service. He retired from Snap-on Tools August 17, 1992. Joe had a Life Membership to the Veterans of Foreign Wars.Joe was preceded in death by his parents & his wife Elaine. Brothers Clifford (Marie), Lyndon (Juanita), Tony, Paul (Melba), Noble (Norma) and Chet (Margie). Sisters Myrtle, Garnet, Wilma (Jim) Schoonover & Belva (Harold) Phegley. He is survived by one sister, Esther (Eldon) Madding, his sister-in-law, Margie (Chet) VanLue & several nieces & nephews.Funeral services for Joe will be held at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway, Vincennes, IN with Brother Jerry VanLue officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10-12 EST on Tuesday & the service will be at 12 noon EST at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial, Mt. Carmel, IL.
