Ruby Houck

April 9, 1923 — July 24, 2014

Ruby E. Earley Oexmann Houck 91, went to her heavenly home July 24, 2014 surrounded by her family. She was born April 9, 1923 to Ival and Ruth (Jordan) Earley, who preceded her in death. Ruby was a graduate of Decker Chapel High School. After high school she and her sister Garnett Hazelman , also preceding her in death, were part of a singing group known as the Earley Sisters that traveled and performed in the early 1940's. She later married Don Oexmann who preceded her in death in 1955. She later married Don Houck who preceded her in death in 2001. Ruby was a homemaker that loved gardening, cooking, and loved her family. She was a member of the First Church of God in Vincennes and a two time cancer survivor.She is survived by her son, Brad (Cinda) Oexmann of Vincennes; a daughter, Debra (Joe) Elmore of Vincennes; a grandson, Jonathan Oexmann of Venice Florida; her granddaughters, Katelyn Oexmann of Vincennes, Aryn White of Vincennes, Lacey White of Nashville, TN; her great grandchildren Austin and Avery Barron; a nephew Doug (Nancy) Hazelman of Vincennes; and her nieces Megan Faulkner and Lindsay Hazelman of Charlotte NC. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 28, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Goodwin Funeral Home with Rev. Fred Nocus officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the service on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made out to the American Cancer Society, Alzheimer's Association, American Diabetes Association, or The First Church of God.
