Ruth Darline Menaugh Brookheart, born September 20th, 1941, in Vincennes, IN passed away peacefully with her family by her side, September 18th, 2022. Our lives have been infinitely better by knowing Ruth and having her by our side. Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth, and Betty (Evans) Menaugh, a brother, Ronald Menaugh, and sister, Jackie West. Surviving Ruth are two sons, Steve, and Brent Brookheart; two granddaughters, Bethany and KelLee Brookheart; and several great grandchildren Mavrick Stodghill, Keaton Lucas, Jaylon Lee, Mylee, Ruby, and Lucy Brookheart. She also leaves behind sisters, Linda Menaugh, Nancy Menaugh, and Marilyn Murphy; nephews Jeff and Michael McConaha, Eddie Leonard, Kenny and Paul Woodward, and a niece, Ginger Sanabria. As the oldest of five siblings, it was known at a young age that Ruth was going to be a hard worker. She was a member of Lincoln High School's 1959 graduating class. Ruth spent 30 years as an employee of Gemtron in Vincennes, Indiana, and was proud to call it "her second home". Ruth was an avid saxophone player and had fond memories of playing in the marching band as a young girl, something she enjoyed so much. In her free time, Ruth enjoyed helping to raise three generations of Brookheart descendants and countless ‘bonus' grandchildren. Affectionately known by many as ‘Nan', she will be missed dearly. Ruth could also be found shopping, doing a crossword, excitedly cheering on the Chicago Bulls, or out maintaining her yard. Ruth always said that age is just a number which helped her sport the newest fashions from her favorite shops. An absolute lady through and through, but one that knew style and wasn't afraid to shake things up a bit. Every single day, Ruth made it known that family was everything to her. All of her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy, and her legacy lives on through them. ‘In life we love you dearly, in death we love you still. In our hearts you hold a place, no one else will fill'. Goodwin-Sievers is honored and entrusted with the care of Ms. Brookheart. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 22, 2022, from 2-4pm. A funeral service will be held September 22, 2022, at 4pm on 524 Broadway St. Vincennes, IN. The family would like to thank Heart to Heart Hospice for their dedication and loving care.
