Ruth A. Hockman, 93, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at the New Willow Manor. Born on August 25, 1920 in Billet, IL, she was the daughter of Albert and Ada Nesler. She was married to M. Mack Hockman on September 18, 1943 and he preceded her in death on July 2, 1990.She was a member of First Christian Church where she devoted many hours of service including co-chair of the Fall Festivals. She also was a member of Vincennes Fortnightly Club and was a volunteer with the Knox County American Red Cross Bloodmobiles and the Good Samaritan Pink and Gray Ladies. She pursued many hobbies including antiquing, crocheting, quilting, reading and collecting teddy bears.Surviving are her son, Billy Jay Hockman and his wife Janet of Floyds Knobs and her daughter, Kathy Conner and her husband Bill of Vincennes; grandchildren, Jay Hockman and his wife Michelle, Angela Hockman, and Cameron Conner; step-grandson, Shane Conner; great grandchildren, Andrew, Jacob, Audrey and Kyle Hockman; step-great-grandchild, Payton Conner.Her parents and her husband preceded her as well as five brothers, Richard, Ross, Charles, Clarence and Virgil and five sisters, Alberta, Elva, Hazel, Ada and Thelma and grandchild, Amy Hockman.Funeral services for Ruth will be at 2:00 pm on Friday, October 18, 2013 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway with Rev. Bill Pipher officiating. Friends may visit with Ruth's family from 1:00 pm until the hour of service time of 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
