Ruth Simpson

Ruth E. Simpson, 86, of Vincennes, IN, passed away July 29, 2019, at Deaconess Hospital.Ruth was a 1951 graduate of Fritchton High School, and a 1954 graduate of the Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing. She worked for many years in OB at Good Samaritan Hospital, and then for Dr. Humphreys at his office. Ruth also served as a nurse for the Red Cross.She attended the Wilson Creek Baptist Church, and later the Monroe City United Methodist Church. A girl scout leader, she also served as a Girl Scout Service Team Chairman.Born February 2, 1933, in Vincennes, IN, she was the daughter of Roy and Pauline (Scott) Ice. Her parents; her husband, James "Bill" Simpson; and her brother, Mervin Ice and his wife, Carla, preceded her.Surviving are her children, Terry Zeabart and her husband, Greg, of Vincennes, IN, Tammy Hansard and her husband, Bob, of Hampton, TN, and Tracy Simpson of Vincennes, IN; her sister, Alice Carrie and her husband, Raymond, of Monroe City, IN, ; her brothers, Sylvan Ice and his wife, Janis, of Bicknell, IN, and Bill Ice of Monroe City, IN.Friends may visit with her family from 11:00 - 1:00 on Friday, at Goodwin Funeral Home. The funeral will begin at 1:00 on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pet Port or the Knox County Humane Society.
