Samara L. Goodwin, 64 of Washington, IN was received into glory Tuesday morning, November 23, 2021 at the Daviess Community Hospital in Washington, Indiana. Samara was born to the late Benjamin and Barbara OmaDell (Lewis) Goodwin on March 11, 1957. She grew up in Plainville, attended Plainville Elementary School and graduated from North Daviess High School in 1975. Sam was a member of the Cougar-Ettes (a select choir) at North Daviess High School. Friends remember her fondly and enjoyed riding bikes together and recalled her love of horses and her collection of horse figurines. Sam worked as a clerk at GC Murphys on Main Street in Washington for several years following graduation and in 1986 was hired by First Federal Savings and Loan Association where she worked her way up through various management positions and was promoted, in 2002, to her current position, at First Federal Savings Bank of Washington, as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Samara was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Washington and enjoyed being involved with church activities with a special focus on children. She volunteered many years in Bethel's Back to School Mission, "Bethel Mall." Samara also had many church friends from her previous membership at Cornettsville United Methodist Church. Sam was also treasurer for the Mt. Gilead UM Church Cemetery Fund. She also enjoyed many years serving in the Walk to Emmaus Community and attended SIWE # 7A in 1993. Sam shared so many of her gifts through her card ministry and her musical attributes. She often said "I'm drinking from the saucer ‘cause my cup has overflowed". This was truly the way that Sam looked at life. She was always a blessing to others and yet, she felt her own life was better than blessed. Samara leaves behind so many special friends that meant so much to her. Her bonus family, Don and Jenny Ryan family, and their children Alex Ryan, (Samara's God Son), Dr Tybytha Ryan Lengacher & her husband, Austin and Miranda West & her husband, Ben. She had numerous cousins on both the Goodwin and Lewis side. She loved her work family, church family and a special group of friends/sisters she adoringly called her "Entertaining Angels". (Jeanna Burkhart, Kerri Dalton, Susan Hess and Anita Mattingly) Goodwin-Sievers is honored and entrusted with the care of Ms. Goodwin. Visitation will be Saturday, November 27, 2021 from 1:00 to 3:00pm with the funeral immediately following at Bethel United Methodist Church (South Campus) at 3709 S 50 W, Washington, Indiana. Burial will follow at the Mt. Gilead Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bethel United Methodist Church and mailed to PO Box 791 Washington, IN 47501.
