Sharon Page Dowling

Sharon Page Dowling, age 82, passed away on April 29, 2024 at her home in Abingdon, Virginia.

Sharon was born on April 24, 1942 to the late Robert and Pearl Shields in Vincennes, Indiana.

Sharon moved to Abingdon in 1970 where she was a founding member of Christ the King Catholic Church, while there, she was involved in the Gourmet Club, Welcome Wagon, Bridge Club and was integral in delivering holiday baskets for the needy.

Sharon married Jay Dowling in 1990, and they moved to Plainfield, Indiana where they enjoyed houseboating on Dale Hollow Lake and became well-known in the Sulfur Creek Marina community. While living in Plainfield, Sharon was a member of St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church and was an active participant in the Women’s Bible Study. Sharon moved back to Abingdon in 2020 and remained until her passing.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, and father of her children, John F. Page; and one sister, Linda Shields Stevenson.

Sharon is survived by her loving husband, Jay D. Dowling and son, Dennis K. Dowling; three daughters, Angela Sue Page Donaldson (Art), Tonya Marie Page Fern (Jim), and Jonna Mae Page Sullins; four siblings, Jerry (Barb) Shields of Portage, Indiana, Janet Shields Robinson (Don), Marshall, Illinois, Bob (Terri) Shields, Vincennes, Indiana. Sharon is also survived by her grandchildren, Lea Sullins, Chelsea Sullins, Ashley Nicole Donaldson, and Audra Donaldson Colaizzi (Anthony); great grandchildren, Francis, Ella, Johnny, Titus, and Gianna; as well as, several beloved nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 04, 2024 at Christ the King with a funeral mass to follow at 11:00 AM with Father Chris Masla officiating. Ms. Dowling will be laid to rest at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Vincennes, Indiana on Saturday, May 11th, 2024 at 11:00 am.
