Sherman Keith Loudermilk Sr., passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2023. Sherman was born on February 18, 1947 in Lawrenceville, Illinois and was the son of James and Alegra (Conover) Loudermilk. He married Sherry (Harmon) on July 26, 1964 and together made a fun, loving, and beautiful life together.
Sherman was retired from Wilkens Trucking where he had many friends and was proud of his truck driving career. In his spare time he was an accomplished woodworker and could be found at the Farmer's Market selling his homemade dog bowls while meeting new people. He loved spending time with his family as he had an annual cookout bringing in over 100 people to his backyard each year. Sherman was an animal lover, especially to dogs, cats, and the birds he would feed in his backyard. He had a knack for growing beautiful sunflowers and sharing those with his family. He was also an avid Notre Dame fan and enjoyed watching his favorite team play.
Sherman is survived by his wife, Sherry (Harmon) Loudermilk; children, Robert Loudermilk, Sherman Loudermilk Jr., Joni Herr (John), and Betty Wheatly; grandchildren, Thomas Herr, Chelsey Richter, and Amanda Crouch; great grandchildren, Dailyn Smith, Brian Roberts, Jayden Loudermilk, and Drayden Loudermilk; brother, Jerry Loudermilk; and sister, Carrie Pepmeier. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Alegra Loudermilk; brothers, Phillip Loudermilk, Wilmer Loudermilk, and Roy Loudermilk; sister Linda; daughter in law, Denise Loudermilk; and son in law, Don Wheatley.
Visitation for Sherman will be held Friday, October 6, 2023 at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home from 4:00 pm- 8:00 pm. A private burial will be held at at later date. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the care of Sherman.
