With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Sherman R. Kennedy age 86. Sherman was born on July 1, 1937, in Council Bluffs, IA the son of Edgar Earl and Ruth Della (Carroll) Kennedy.
Sherman was a proud US Marine who retired after years of dedicated service to his country. He was also a member Central Church of Christ, finding solace and strength in his faith.
Known for his love of travel, karaoke nights, dancing, and exploring flea markets, Sherman embraced all the joys life had to offer. His friendly and welcoming nature endeared him to many, leaving a lasting impact wherever he went.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Kennedy of Vincennes, stepdaughter, Kay Roberts of Vincennes, and two step grandchildren, Blaize Thais and Katlyn Jones. Sherman is preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Ruth Kennedy, his first wife, Sherry (Kizer) Kennedy, step son-in-law, Doug Roberts Sr. and his siblings, Delbert, Martha, and Betty.
Sherman's request was to be cremated and there will be no services held. He will be laid to rest in Memorial Park Cemetery. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is privileged and honored to be entrusted with the care of Sherman and his family.
