Stephen Eugene Gladish passed away December 13, 2021 at Willow Manor in Vincennes, Indiana after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Steve was born January 5, 1947 to Orval and Hazel King Gladish. He was raised on the Gladish farm outside Montgomery, Indiana and later enlisted in the US Army. Steve served 3 years in the Vietnam War before returning home. Upon his return, Steve then traveled to the Holy Lands with his future in-laws, Wayne and Emma Harder along with the Reverend Ben Bean. Steve married Debra May Harder on October 25, 1970. They had two sons, Brian E. Gladish of Newburgh and Scott A. Gladish of Montgomery. After his military service Steve became a barber at his Uncle Bob King's barbershop in Petersburg, IN. He later moved to Jack's barbershop in Washington, IN before beginning a job at Crane Naval Base where he would retire after 35 faithful years. Upon his retirement, Steve was given an American flag that had been flown over our nation's Capitol building in DC to recognize his many years of service to his country. Steve was an avid fan of Atlanta Braves baseball and IU basketball. One of his greatest pleasures was watching his sons and grandchildren play ball. Steve could always be counted on to yell "homer" at the officials during a game and a deep voiced "boooo" as he threw his hands waving in disgust was guaranteed at least once per any game. Steve was preceded in death by his mother and father, his brother Tolan Gladish, and his sister Janis (Gladish) Wininger. He is survived by Debra, his wife of 51 years, and both his sons Brian Gladish and Scott (Trish) Gladish. He was blessed with 6 grandchildren, Hunter Gladish, Gabriel Gladish, Kylee Gladish, Joshua Taylor, Geoffrey Taylor, and Kayti Taylor Boyd. He leaves behind 5 great grandchildren as well, Hudson Gladish, Kayden Sult, Ellie Boyd, and Jaxson & Levi Taylor. The family asks in lieu of flowers memorial contributions to be made to the following: Barr Reeve Scholarship Foundation at PO Box 25 Montgomery, IN 47558 or by PayPal @BRscholars, and to the Western Kentucky Relief Fund at https://secure.kentucky.gov/formservices/Finance/WKYRelief for Tornado Disaster Relief.
