Steve J. McCoy, 69, of 5439 S. Wildwood Lane, Monroe City, passed away on Saturday March 15, 2014 at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born on September 20, 1944 in Knox County to John and Maxine (Kensler) McCoy.Steve worked as a union carpenter until his retirement in 2003. A member of the Monroe City First Church of God, Steve enjoyed fishing, duck hunting, watching the St. Louis Cardinals, and being around his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.Surviving is his wife, Darlene (Perry) McCoy whom he married on June 14, 1964; his mother, Maxine Black of Monroe City; a daughter, Stacey Tennant of Lawn Dale, NC; a sister, Connie Bobe of Kansas City, MO; a step brother, Patrick Black of Freelandville; and his grandchildren, Tanner Bradley of Daytona Beach, Garrick Bradley of Lawndale, Grant Tennant, and Noah Tennant, all of Lawndale, NC. Preceding Steve in death was his son, Chad McCoy.Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 18th, 2014 at Goodwin Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Nielson officiating. Burial will follow in Walnut Hill Cemetery in Petersburg. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the service time. Memorial contributions may be made to Relay for Life.
