It is with heavy hearts but also with cherished memories that we announce the passing of Stephen Brent Neighbors Sr., known affectionately by many as "Chaser." Born on May 20, 1954, in Palestine, Illinois he is the son of the late George and Lola (Crow) Neighbors. Steve's journey through life came to a peaceful close on December 28, 2024 with his family by his side.
Steve was a lifelong truck driver who embraced the open road with a passion. His calling as a truck driver took him across the vast landscape of the United States, where he met countless friends and fellow travelers. Throughout his career, he became well-known for his friendly demeanor and engaging presence on the CB radio, where his call name, "Chaser," resonated with many.
Beyond the miles and highways, Stephen found joy in the simple pleasures of life. His love for nature shone through during his cherished moments fishing, camping, and mushroom hunting. These hobbies not only brought him happiness but also fostered connections with family and friends who will forever hold onto the unforgettable memories shared with him.
Surviving Steve is his significant other Debbie Emmons; children, Eric Neighbors, Stephen Neighbors Jr., and Candida "Candi" Meulen. Steve is preceded in death by his parents, George and Lola.
A Funeral Service honoring Stephen's life will take place on January 2, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home in Vincennes. Friends, family, and loved ones are invited to celebrate his remarkable journey and the impact he had on those around him. Prior to the service, a Public Viewing will be held at the same location on January 2, 2025, from 11:00 AM until the service time of 2:00 PM.
Stephen will be dearly missed but proudly remembered for the love he shared and the adventures he embraced. His legacy will continue to ride on the highways of our hearts, reminding us of the joyful spirit of a true "Chaser."
