Steven Steimel

July 11, 1957 — February 11, 2022

Steven Jay Steimel, 64, passed away at 7:00 am on February 11, 2022, at his residence. Jay was born on July 11, 1957, in Vincennes and he was the son of Max and Armentha "Mency" (Theriac) Steimel. Jay married Jamie Froeschke on October 31, 1981 and spent 40 years together. Jay graduated from Vincennes Lincoln High School and went on to Vincennes University receiving his associates degree in tool and die. He then gained 37 years of employment with Hansen Manufacturing where he began his career as tool and die maker and was later promoted to a Manufacturing Engineer until his retirement in 2016. Jay was very proud of his achievement as an inventor in a patent for a die cast to use a plastic casing instead of copper. This innovation cut cost on the production on motors which saved money for the company. Some of Jay's favorite activities in his spare time include shooting and collecting guns, listening to rock and roll music, watching the history channel and anything related to the military. He also loved telling jokes, but mostly, making people laugh. Jay especially enjoyed the moments he spent with his children and family. Survivors include his wife, Jamie Steimel of Vincennes; his children, Tara Roe and her husband Chris of Evansville, Bryan Steimel of Washington, Leaha Anthis and her husband Jason of Vincennes, Michael Steimel of Vincennes, Heather Lehman and her husband Kyle of Vincennes; his grandchildren, Lauryn and Max Roe, Emmy Steimel, Cadence, Aubrey, and Brylee Anthis, Owyn Willis, Layton Steimel, Lyric Fowler, and Ensliegh Lehman. Jay was preceded in death by his parents, Max and Armentha "Mency" Steimel.
