Sue Ellen Hatton

August 9, 1939 — December 21, 2023

With deep sadness, we celebrate the life of Sue Ellen Hatton, who left us on December 21, 2023, at the age of 84. Born Sue Ellen Pilz on August 9, 1939, in Olney, Illinois, Sue lived a life full of love, service, and dedication. She found her forever home in Monroe City, Indiana, where she touched countless lives with her warmth and generosity.

Sue was a lifelong member of the Indiana Presbyterian Church, where she found joy in quilting weekly at the church and creating beautiful quilts for charity at the Monroe City Blue Jean Center. These quilts, like Sue, provided warmth and comfort to those in need. Her commitment to service extended to the Monroe City Blue Jean Center, where she was a dedicated member. She worked for several years at the Monroe City Feed Mill in a clerical role. Sue also found delight in her weekly Euchre Nights with Bobe's Pizza and cherished her Saturday night routine of watching Daniel O'Donnell, the Irish Singer, at 9:00 pm.

She is survived by her loving family, her daughter Susan McFarland, sister Rosalie (Steven) Carr, granddaughters Amber McFarland, Chondra Hatton and Anissa Hatton. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank Hatton, whom she married on March 15, 1959. Her son Curt Hatton, son-in-law Matt McFarland, parents Helmuth and Vera "Maude" Pilz, and her loyal dog, Dolly, also preceded her. Sue's love for her family was unmatched, and her memory will live on in the hearts of those who felt her love.

The visitation will be held at Goodwin-Sievers – Vincennes Funeral Home, 524 Broadway Street, Vincennes, Indiana, 47591, on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at 12:00 pm EST. The funeral service will follow at the same location at 2:00 pm EST. with Pastor Frank Harmon officiating. Sue will be laid to rest next to her husband Frank in Royal Oak Cemetery. We invite those who knew and loved Sue to join us in celebrating her extraordinary life.

We encourage all who knew Sue to share their memories, stories, and photos on her memorial page at www.goodwinsieversfh.com. The Hatton family has requested memorial contributions be made to the Monroe City Blue Jean Center. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is privileged and honored to be entrusted with the care of Sue and her family.
