Susan Guerrettaz

Susan Jerstad (Hoing) Guerrettaz, 82, of Vincennes, passed away Nov. 21, 2015, at the West River Health Campus in Evansville, IN., after a three year battle with brain cancer.Though born in Evansville, IN, Susan grew up in Louisville, KY. She moved to Vincennes when she was 16. Susan graduated from St. Rose Academy in 1951, and from Vincennes University in 1953. In 1983 she received her bachelor's degree from St. Mary of the Woods after her first husband had passed away. She was an Inner Librarian Loan Officer at the Vincennes University Library Shake Learning Resource Center.Susan was a member of St. John Catholic Church, and had served on the Vincennes Catholic School Board. Psi Iota Psi, Vincennes University Alumni Association, and the Vincennes Business and Professional Women's Club were other memberships she held.She enjoyed knitting, playing bridge, and t'ai chi. Once a month she would get together with her high school classmates.Born in Evansville, IN, on August 21, 1933, she was the daughter of Leo Joseph and Alma (Klein) Hoing. Preceding her in death were her parents; her first husband, Robert Jerstad, whom she married in 1955, and who passed away in 1979; her second husband, Bernard Guerrettaz, whom she married in 1989, and who passed away in 2010; and her brother-in-law, James Shircliff.Surviving is her daughter, Janet Ellert and her husband, David, of Evansville, IN; her sons, Robin Jerstad and his wife, Tami, of San Antonio, TX and Michael Jerstad and his wife, Stephanie, of Newburgh, IN; step-children, Stuart Guerrettaz and his wife, Deidre, of Indianapolis, IN, Ellen Guerrettaz and her husband, Tom Buelow, of Cincinnati, OH, John Guerrettaz and his wife, Beth, of Indianapolis, IN, Sarah Guerrettaz and her husband, Chuck Johnson, of Vincennes, Karen Guerrettaz - Lorenz and her husband, Dan, of Indianapolis, IN, BG Guerrettaz and his wife, Tammy, of Bloomington, IN, Peggy Koenig and her husband, Kirk, of Indianapolis, IN, and Amy Guerrettaz and her husband, Kyle Fessler, of Indianapolis, IN; a sister, Sally Shircliff of Lynchburg, VA; forty-two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and a nephew.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, at 10:00 EDT, at St. John Catholic Church in Vincennes, IN. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 - 6:00 EDT on Sunday, at Goodwin Funeral Home. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.Donations may be made to Vincennes Catholic Schools, or the American Cancer Society.
