Sutton Dean Brooks Risley

Sutton Dean Brooks Risley, 1, of Vincennes, IN, passed on April 12, 2024, at Riley Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. He was born on January 31, 2023, to Kate Risley.

Sutton battled chronic lung disease for the entirety of his life, and although he faced many hardships, he remained a happy and energetic baby boy. Sutton was known by friends, family, and hospital staff to be lively and cheerful, and to always laugh and play. He enjoyed Mickey Mouse, Bluey, and his rocker. Sutton loved spending time at his Ninnie and Papa’s house, playing with his aunts and uncles, cuddling with his mama, dancing with his mama’s boyfriend, and taking walks in his wagon. Many things made him happy, but everything made him smile.

Sutton is and will forever be known as the epitome of strength and bravery. He has inspired and brought an irrevocable amount of joy to all that were given the opportunity to know and love him.

Sutton is survived by his mother, Kate Risley; his grandparents, Nichole and Steven Ross; his great-grandparents, Sandy Shouse, Kirt Shouse, and Debbie Richards; his aunts, Aubrey Richmond, Addison Richmond, and Ellyott Ross; his uncles, Lerik Jenkins, and Sawyer Ross; and other family and friends that held him dearly.

Sutton is preceded in death by his grandfather, Daniel Risley; and his maternal and paternal great-great grandparents.

Sutton’s celebration of life will be held privately and the family will notify with details of said celebration.
