Theresa Matthews

Theresa A. Matthews, 66, of Washington, IN went to be with the Lord February 10, 2022. She was born to the late Vincent and Lela (Street) Deitz in Washington, IN on July 4, 1955. Theresa graduated from Washington Catholic High School class of 1973. She married, the love of her life, Edward Matthews on March 3, 1974. Theresa was a passionate member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where she sang in the choir for 30 years and was the choir director for 5 years. She worked for Frette Energy as the office administrator for 18 years. Theresa also worked for Martin Studios where she received an award for being a photography touch up artist. Theresa was known for her love of life and her infectious laugh. In her early years she enjoyed camping, fishing and boating with her family. Theresa enjoyed gardening, knitting, playing card, puzzles, reading, playing computer games, and cooking her famous potato soup and red velvet cake. She will be deeply missed by everyone. Theresa was preceded in death by her parents and sister Eve Annette Deitz. She is survived by her husband, of 47 years, Ed "Smoke" Matthews; sons Shane (Chasity) Matthews and David (Alison) Matthews; grandchildren Katherine, Hannah, Emily, Nicholas, Wyatt and Gracie; siblings Vincent Dale (Mickey) Deitz and Deanna Deitz; aunts Midge Helderman, Melba Buckley, Sharon Street, Marlene Vesmarovich; and many nieces and nephews. Goodwin-Sievers is honored and entrusted with the care of Mrs. Matthews. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 16, 2022 from 3-6pm with funeral services at 6pm. In lieu of flowers donation can be made to St. John's Catholic Cemetery
