Thomas Smith

Thomas (Tom) Patrick Smith, 63, of Vincennes, IN, passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at the Deaconess Heart Hospital in Evansville, IN. He was born on February 28, 1951 to Donald and Phyllis Smith in Moline, Illinois.He received his Bachelor's Degree from Birmingham Southern College and his Masters in Education from Indiana State University. He was a professor of psychology for 37 years at Vincennes University. Tom was a member of the First United Methodist Church where he participated in the choir. He enjoyed reading, listening to music, and learning.Tom is survived by his best friend and partner of 11 years, Susan Meier of Vincennes, IN, the daughter of his heart Isabella Meier, his eldest son, Sean Smith along with his four children: Larisa, Gavin, Brielle, and Fallon; his youngest son Matthew Smith, his wife Holly, and their son Thomas; father, Donald Smith; His four siblings: David, Steve, Barbara, and Lisa, her husband Bob, and their daughter Bonny. He is preceded in death by his grandfather Milford Thomas Walton and his mother Phyllis Smith.A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, August 2, 2014 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Paul Wagner officiating. A private burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Goodwin Funeral Home has been entrusted to the arrangements.
